Kutumb, an initiative towards 'Green Affordable Housing'

India is standing at the cusp of urban landscape transformation with an estimated construction of 11 million homes by 2022. By only imagining that these homes will be built using conventional building techniques, an estimated fresh water consumption of 24x106 million litre per year, energy consumption of 21 million units per year and massive CO2 emission of 17 million tons per year will be recorded.

How can we change this Green Affordable Housing! With the launch of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana PMAY in June 2015, a large chunk of affordable homes are slated to be part of India urban transformation. Therefore, it would not be wrong to call reen Affordable Housing the alternate face of India mission of ousing for All by 2022 Green homes ensure sustainable development of our environment, and what better way to blend the benefits of green buildings with affordable housing segment in India.

UTUMBis a platform to blend the benefits of green homes within the affordable housing segment in India. Kutumb focuses on the needs, efforts and initiatives that can be taken to promote sustainable and energy efficient real estate development in cost effective ways. Over the four Chapters of KUTUMB, we have partnered with Asian Development Bank ADB, International Finance Corporation IFC, CDC- a UK sovereign fund, Indian Green Building Council IGBC, German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ, Green Building Council of India GBCI, Energy Efficient Services Ltd EESL, Ashok B Lall Architects and National Housing Bank NHB.

Our journey started in June , 2018 in Ahmedabad with Chapter I of KUTUMB. The event witnessed participation from more than 50 developers and 5 experts. The event in Ahmedabad marked the beginning of a series of similar events, specific to reen Affordable Housing Owing to the immense response in Ahmedabad, Chapter II of KUTUMB took place in Indore in Sept 2018. More than 100 participants, 70+ real estate developers and 7 experts were present at the event. The journey reached its next stop in Pune, where Asian Development Bank ADB joined hands with us to hold Chapter III of KUTUMB. 100 participants, 70+ real estate developers and 9 experts shared their expertise and benefits of green affordable housing. KUTUMB held its largest Chapter at Bangalore in June 2019 where Padma Shri Saalumarada Thimmakka, affectionately called VRIKSHA MATA graced the event with her presence. In addition, 120 real estate developers, 7 experts and collectively 200+ participants were present at the event.

KUTUMB is a vision that culminates into the big picture of reen Revolution 2.0that focuses on green affordable housing in India, realising its potential value for our shareholders, investors and end-customers.
